IS THIS AN ESCAPE ROOM?
*This adventure is NOT an in-person escape room game. Rather you will be traveling around parts of the city of Virginia Beach following clues to solve a centuries' old mystery. Do not begin by coming to Black Cat Escape Room. You will receive an email after your purchase with instructions on how to begin and you will be given your first clue to find your first location. You will be guided from there.
WHAT DO WE NEED?
*You will need a car and at least one charged phone. You will be required to gps to numerous locations, look things up online, access online emails, web sites, etc. Wifi will not always be available so data must be utilized.
OUTSIDE OR INSIDE?
*This experience takes place almost entirely outside. Please take weather into account when choosing when to play as well as what to wear and what supplies you might want to bring (sunscreen, hat, water, etc.) as you will almost exclusively be out of doors and subject to weather and temperatures. You will not be heavily hiking through woods or other rugged areas but rather visiting sites throughout the city. However, you will be required at times to walk on brick pavers, uneven grass/terrain, gravel, etc.
CAN KIDS PLAY?
*Kids are welcome. We typically recommend ages 6 and up to be able to fully participate. 5 years old and younger are free as they are not able to engage as fully in the adventure. Any minors must be added to their legal parent or guardian's online waiver (link available after purchase).

Unlike our in-person, in-room games here at our location, this escape adventure allows you to take your time following centuries old clues, deciphering codes from some sort of clandestine agency, and try to solve a mystery dating back to the 1600s. Learn about some amazing pieces of local Virginia Beach history while visiting fascinating historic sites and cute local mom & pop hidden gems of the area. At each location you will solve puzzles, follow clues, and get a step closer to solving your mystery while also getting a hint to your next location. Perfect for a day date with your special someone, making memories as a family, or bring the whole gang and make your own Mystery Incorporated squad!
Local researchers, anthropologists, and sociologists have observed chatter regarding a sacred symbol, a centuries old mystery, a secret society, and something big is going down SOON. They have contracted you and your team to do the field work and investigate. They have little to go on, having intercepted part of a secret code from an operative of this group. But they think you have the means to decipher it. If you do, it may send you down a path of codes, graves, haunting messages, and treasure maps. Do you accept the challenge?
This is NOT an IN-PERSON ESCAPE ROOM. Please read below BEFORE booking as this is a unique OUTDOOR, 3 HOUR OR LONGER experience.
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN PLAY IN MY GROUP?
* Must be played with all players in ONE CAR. 1-5 PLAYERS MAX per purchase.
WHEN CAN WE PLAY?
* Play anytime BETWEEN 8AM- 8:30PM, 7 days a week
HOW LONG does it take?
*3-5 HOURS
*This adventure is SELF-GUIDED. It is NOT TIMED. Every group plays differently based on size of group, experience level, number of hints taken, etc.
*You MUST LEAVE YOUR 2ND TO LAST LOCATION (LOCATION 4) BY SUNSET/BEFORE DARK.

*This experience takes place ALMOST ENTIRELY OUTSIDE. Please TAKE WEATHER INTO ACCOUNT when choosing when to play as well as what to wear and what supplies you might want to bring (sunscreen, hat, water, etc.) as you will almost exclusively be out of doors and subject to weather and temperatures. You will not be heavily hiking through woods or other rugged areas but rather visiting sites throughout the city. However, at times you will be REQUIRED TO WALK ON BRICK PAVERS, UNEVEN GRASS/TERRAIN, GRAVEL, etc.
